Orthopaedics & Traumatology

Keeping your joints moving smoothly
At the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Bethel Hospital Berlin, we treat diseases and injuries of the entire musculoskeletal system, including bones, ligaments and muscles. One key area in which the department specializes is joints.

Minimally-invasive from Arthroscopy to Replacement

Functional disorders, injuries and general wear and tear affecting for example hands, elbows, shoulders, the spine, hips, the pelvis, knees and feet can often be treated by using a form of keyhole surgery known as arthroscopy. In cases of advanced wear, the articular surfaces of hip, knee, shoulder or elbow joints are replaced by prosthetic implants in a minimally invasive procedure known as arthroplasty. For this purpose, regardless of the expense, we use extremely wear-resistant bearing surfaces which have produced the best results in the world.

Flying home after seven days with Rapid Recovery

Our main aim is to quickly and permanently restore patients’ ability to work and enjoy sporting activity without experiencing any pain. Bethel Hospital Berlin is a European reference centre for the Rapid Recovery Programme. Comprehensive information for patients before admission and early mobilization through physiotherapy precisely geared to each replacement means that arthroplasty patients can on average be discharged after just seven days (http://www.rapid-recovery.co.uk/home).
