Our Hospital

Treatment from the heart
Bethel Hospital Berlin is an acute care hospital in Berlin containing 251 beds. Despite its location near the centre of Germany’s vibrant capital, being in the leafy suburb of Lichterfelde   it’s surrounded by greenery, providing patients with the peaceful haven they need for a speedy recovery. While they enjoy the fresh air in the spacious garden, their companions can easily take in the sights of Berlin or enjoy the city’s superb shopping.

Bethel Hospital Berlin treats patients from all over south Berlin in its departments of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics (including a day-care facility), Anaesthesiology & Intensive Care Medicine, and Radiology, as well as the ENT and Urology units.

The hospital is solely owned by Bethel Diakoniewerk gemeinnützige GmbH, a not-for-profit limited company. Accordingly, work at Bethel Hospital Berlin is rooted in social welfare. Being a faith hospital, alongside comprehensive, highly skilled medical care, counselling and pastoral care are also high on the agenda.

The hospital is certified under the KTQ (‘cooperation for transparency and quality in healthcare’) system. A proponent of low-pain treatment, it’s also a proud bearer of the Seal of Quality for Acute Pain Therapy awarded by the TÜV Rhineland inspection association.
Furthermore, Bethel Hospital Berlin is committed to the sustainable use of natural resources. Thanks to its own combined heat-and-power plant, specially modified air conditioning system, and use of energy-saving contracting, over the past five years the hospital has continuously cut its emissions of greenhouse gases by 689 tonnes annually. As a result, in January 2013 it was singled out for an award as an energy-saving hospital by BUND Friends of the Earth Germany.
